People Who Suffer From Migraines More Predisposed To Be Depressed
Woman with headache, especially migraines, are more predisposed to suffer from depression, feel weary, and have a host of other bad physical symptoms, according to a medical trial published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
The medical study involved 1800 people who buy seroquel online at headache clinics in six countries. Of the patients tested, 593 reported episodic headache (less than 15 headaches per month) and 112 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the people were diagnosed with migraines.
The medical research found woman with chronic headache were four times more inclined than those with occasional headache to report symptoms of major Manic Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also four times more predisposed to report a high degree of symptoms depended to headache, pain or problems during intercourse.
Among patients tested with severely disabling migraine, the clinical research found the likelihood of major Major Depression increased 32-fold if the man also reported other severe symptoms.
“Painful physical symptoms can provoke or be a manifestation of major Psychotic Depression in patient with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt online and Major Depression will heighten pain perception,” said clinical trial author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This relation between migraine and major Manic Depression suggests a frequent neurobiology.”
Tietjen says clinical study are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Major Depression will be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.
“Indifferent of what’s causing the connection between migraine and Depression, psychiatric disorder such as Atypical Depression complicates headache treatment and can excite poorer consequences for headache management,” said Tietjen.
The medical research was countenanced, in part, by the American Headache Society, which judges 18 million American women suffer from headache.
The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 17000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to ameliorating people care through education and clinical investigation. A neurologist is a physician specialized on diagnosing, curing and managing sickness of the brain and nervous system such as stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, Parkinson disorder, and multiple sclerosis.
